Doctors and specialists are able to use special equipment and knowledge to perform procedures that lessen the appearance and perhaps even the pain of some of the veins. Visible vein treatment can be done in some procedures and one of those is known as sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves injections into the vein directly. The solution goes into the blood vessels and causes a collapsing of the vessel and it goes into the blood and causes it to clot. This can help get rid of the appearance and irritants that go along with the veins. Many people require only one treatment while others may require several.

This type of treatment is usually done in a doctor's office and can be done in a matter of an hour or so. They will usually let you relax and some offices do give a sedative or other medicine to help with any pain or uncomfortable feeling that may arise before the procedure. The injection is usually quick and relatively painless and the site may be uncomfortable for a while. This is usually a unique individual reaction that may be varied depending on the person.
